Mansfield ISD Dual Credit Programs

Dual Credit and Texas House Bill 505 (HB505)
Dual Credit allows students to earn both high school and college credit at the same time. Texas House Bill 505 (HB505) was put into effect to expand the opportunities students have to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school.
The state law, passed in 2015, places no limits on the number of college courses high school students can take for dual credit. Under the recent legislation, students are also able to participate in dual credit programs as early as their freshman year, rather than their junior year.
Dual Credit Programs within Mansfield ISD
Mansfield ISD partners with multiple colleges and universities to offer a variety of programs for our students to begin earning college credit early.
The sponsorship/scholarship of students is limited to parameters set for Mansfield ISD dual credit programs.
Only courses within our agreement with the district’s specified higher education partners and meeting the district’s curriculum prerequisites found in the Course Description Guide can be coded for dual credit. All other courses will be concurrent or college credit only.
In addition, any courses not meeting stated parameters cannot be taken within the school day and will be at the student’s expense.
